What We D.O.
The SOMA Foundation collaborates with national and local chapters of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) in support of a common vision through sponsorship of philanthropy projects, research initiatives, community outreach, medical education, and student scholarships. SOMA is the largest national organization dedicated to transforming motivated Osteopathic medical students into dynamic health-care leaders who advance patient-centered health care within the United States and abroad.
Community Outreach
Every year, generous donations from our members make community outreach and public health education projects possible during SOMA's Fall and Spring conventions. The SOMA Foundation has a proud history of partnering with the American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) for SOMA's Regional Unity Project, sending students on the AOF Human Touch Leadership Project.
Past Unity Projects:
⦿ New Orleans, LA: Collaborated with local relief teams to help rebuild in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
⦿ Kissimmee, FL: Partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to bring joy to children fighting life-threatening illnesses.
⦿ Phoenix, AZ, and Camden, NJ: Provided holiday cheer at Ronald McDonald House Charities, offering a "home away from home" for families of children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.
These initiatives reflect our commitment to making a positive impact in communities and supporting those in need. Thank you for your continued support, which enables us to carry out these vital projects.
